Motorcycle Scams Prevented
We have gotten a few emails and calls from people thanking us for the motorcycle scam information. It's helped them avoid getting scammed. Here are some of them.
" Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!!!!
Your section on motorcycle scams gave me a "heads up"
when I received a reply back from a seller of a
motorcycle that was trying to scam me out of a
$2500.00 deposit wired through western union in
portugal. I am so glad that there are people like you
out there that keep up with those people who are too
lazy to work and would rather scam money for those who
do.
When I find the right bike and an honest seller I will
definitely be calling you guys to have it shipped!
Thanks again for the info!!! "
" Barry, thank you very much. I believe you have just stopped me from being scammed by another overseas scam artist.
He was a little shady on the deal but the information you have provided has confirmed my concerns. I truely can't
thank you enough for your services. Thank you thank you. When I find a legit seller I will be in contact with
you and the company you are with.
thanks again, "
"Thank you so much for the information you posted about motorcycle scams. I put ads in both the Recycler and Pennysaver Online to sell my motorcycle and was contacted by two different individuals
from outside of the US (UK and Canada). They both offered to pay me double what the bike was worth - and asked me to give the difference to their "shipping agent" via Western Union. I had already sent my name and
address to one of them, who claims to have already sent a cashier's check, but then I saw your postings and I let him know the deal was off - and that if I received a check, it was going in the trash.
Thank goodness my brother found the accounts posted on your site. Thank you, thank you, thank you."
Moverquest.....I recently inquired to get a shipping quote from you folks because I have a motorcycle for sale and wanted to know how much it would cost to ship a certain distance....... WELL......I'm writing to THANK YOU for your info
on buyer scammers....Your info was right on the money exactly as you said......I have my motorcycle for sale on HarleyTrader.com .......For weeks I have been getting POUNDED with emails from buyers claiming to be from the UK ( mostly )
and other places using the scam procedure you described in your info to the letter....I was almost ready to make a deal UNTIL I read your info !!!!! .....THANK YOU !!!!!.......I'm not going to fall for it now UNLESS they follow the
guidelines you instucted in your info...Tell your customers to look for things like.....Their grammer is crude and they can't type or spell for shit....They always want to tack on an extra 2 or 3K for you to " help them pay their
shipper " .........They're always in a big hurry for their " shipper kickback "...or want to ship your motorcycle ASAP....or Western Union their cut ASAP.......or they want your address & phone # for contact info ( What they
really want it for is to know where you live, call you to make sure your not home to either STEAL your bike or send their shipper there to pick up the bike BEFORE the check DON'T clear )......Thank You once again for that important
SCAM INFO..........You have my full permission to print this email and put it in your newsletter if you like and give my email address out to your customers for verification and if they need more info from me......SCUM like them need
to be made aware of......I have saved all their emails if you should want to see them for samples to put in print for warnings to all legitimate buyers & sellers to see......
Here is the names & email addresses of the con artists I have encountered so far for you & your customers to be aware of so they won't get taken.................................

We had one guy call us February 2005 to confirm that we were holding an AVT in our New York office ready to ship as soon as he paid the eBay seller. Luckily he called us to check it out before he sent the money.
We didn't have it. Never did. There was no ATV to ship. Scam prevented.
We'd like to hear from you if this motorcycle scam information was helpful. We'd also like to hear from you if someone tried to scam you. Tell us what happened.
